WORD DEFINITION
1. amniocentesis Mayumi:A method of getting infomation about the sex and genetic make up of children by taking some liquid from mother's womb.
2. bone marrow Susumu:This part is core of bone.
3. cell Chiyuki:The smallest structural and functional unit of an organism.
4. chromosome Masaaki:A threadlike linear strand of DNA and associated proteins in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells that carries the genes and functions in the transmission of hereditary information.
5. cloning Kyoko:The process of creating a genetically identical copy from the ancestral cell or organism. It is natural among single-cell organisms. However, the cloning of the following orgasms needs human' s involvement: 1) The cloning of multicellular plants can be accomplished by using cuttings or bulbs from "donor parents" . 2) The cloning of animals can be succeeded by nuclear transplantation into the cytoplasm of the embryonic cell. 6. DNA Ikuma: (Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid.) The chemical in the cells that contains genetic information.
7. donor Tomoe:A person who gives his/her organs to patients.
8. embryo Makiko: A living organism in the very early stages of development before birth.

10. fertilize Satomi: A method to develop a new individual by joining sperm with an egg.
11. fetus Haruka: An unborn baby of a mammal, especially human being.

13. genes Eri: A unit in a cell that influences living things and is passed from parents.
14. genetic Yoshiki: An adjective of "genes", relating to heredity
15. gynecologist Mikiko: A doctor whose speciality is the medical conditions and diseases of women
16. implantation Riri: The process of attachment of the early embryo to the maternal uterine wall
17. in vitro Tomohiro: Process where the human egg is fertilized out of the mother's body. This occurs in cloning.
18. mutate Yuta: To develop or make sth develop a new form or structure, because of a genetic change.
19. nucleus Yuki: The central part of some cells, containing the genetic material
20. obstetrician Saori:A doctor who has the special traning in childbirth.
21. predisposition Dai: A pre-existing tendency to suffer from a disease or medical condition.
22. pregnant Asuka: The state of a woman or female animal having a baby or young animal developing inside her/its body.
23. progenitor Aiko: A person from whom one is descended; an ancestor or parent.
24. protocol Miku: A plan for carrying out a scientific experiment or medical treatment. In the text, Silver implies that although the protocol for cloning needs high skilled person, there are many people who have the skill in the U.S.A. alone; therefore, to bring human cloning into reality is not impossible. (Silver 220)

29. tissue Haruka: A group of cells which have the same shape and function.
30. transplant Riri: To transfer (an organ or tissue) from one part or individual to another
31. uterus Asuka: The organ in women and female animals in which babies develop and be protected before they are born.
32. vasectomy Ikuma: A medical operation which disables a man from making child.
